Just replace both hoses and the valve. It's vacuum driven that directs the hot water through the heater core for heat. The no heat, could have been the valve was already bad. You probably have to cut the hoses off where they enter the fire wall. The heater core nipple is kinda soft, so be gentle removing the hoses. Can't hurt to back flush the heater core with a garden hose while you have the hoses off.
