Hasn't happened to me yet... sheet metal screws ar pretty good at attaching things to sheet metal, ya know? *^)

On our own 122, I was lucky to find the type of mirrors that use threaded studs in the base. I preferred that kind just for appearance, as there are no bolt heads showing. Installing the nuts and lock washers on the inside of the door and tightening them was a royal PITA.
