The installer makes a little money on the belt plus he has a working relationship with his supplier. Should the belt be defective he can file a warranty claim and there will be no cost to you. You bring in your own parts and there is no warranty except for his workmanship.
Think twice before using a belt that is not specifically designated for your application.
Installers are not likely to go to bat for you when they are not comfortable with "carry in" parts. Some may actually refuse to do the job.
