The Cherokee has been remarkably reliable and trouble free (knock on wood!)
It's a 98 Classic and has 100K miles on it. Other than routine maintenance (oil changes, tune up, shocks, brakes and tires), I haven't had to put a penny into it. The 4.0L engine reminds me of the old Chrysler 225 ci slant six -- old technology but durable as hell.
The only complaint I had about the Cherokee concerned the Goodyear Wrangler tires that came with it. Frankly, they sucked. They were terrible in the rain, terrible in the snow and I got barely 20,000 miles out of them. After some research I put on Dunlop SUV tires on them (don't remember the model name) and they have been great. The first set gave me 60,000 miles and the second set looks almost new with 20K on them.
