Coolant temperature sensor test question 700

My car does two things bad:

Hot start trouble AND my temp guage doesn't seem to be working properly.

Do guys think that maybe my coolant temp sensor is bad?

This is one of the things listed in the FAQs for the hot start problem. (I already posted for hot start -checked Hall sensor, no radio suppression relay, check FI relay, replaced fuel pump check valve, both pumps working, battery, coil, wires good)

Is there any test for it? Might just swap anyway, it's $17 at Autozone.

Any advise appreciated.
