Hi Jerry,

Welcome to the board! I'm only going to comment on the steering; I've put Mobil 1 ATF (synthetic) in both my Volvo's racks and it made a noticeable difference in their operation. I'd give it a try. Use any synthetic ATF, I recommend Amsoil, Mobil 1 or Redline, but there are other good brands. I hope that helps! :)
