This a brand new solenoid that was installed due to the prior one failing when driving through a rare California rain puddle.
The new part's rubber sleeve is literaly melted! And it happened when driving down a flat section of highway with zero driver imput.
Regarding the "groove cutting", I've read in prior threads that if you machine a channel allowing transmission fluid to flow freely, bypassing the solenoid, it will allow you to only utlize your kickdown gear for OD.
Lastly, I do not use synthetic fluid.
Thanks for your advice.
