I think the best rule is use 2 lbs and go from there, carefully, if you have reason to. Say, if low pressure is too low or you carefully add and monitor temperature. Do not overcharge 134a is the most important thing. Also, you need to get the system equilibrated and to drive the car. It takes time and a little practice to get it right.
