Trunk leaks in the rain 140-160 1973

Hi Neil,

Maybe Australian delivered cars were a bit different, but none of my 4 140s have the "length of thin hose cut open along it's length" fitted. They all had the side edging you describe, and the one that is leaking has flat rubber, maybe 1.5cm wide and 2mm thick glued down in the channel where the rubber from the trunk lid comes down. I don't know if this flat rubber is original, but it has the effect of making the channel where the water would run away much shallower. Having said that, the seal can't be any good or water wouldn't come in.

Anyway, I've removed two of the side seals from one of the parts cars and fitted that on the vertical edge at the front of the trunk in the (maybe vain) hope that the rubber on the lid will seal against it.

And I will have a look and see if I can find the rubber you described.

Thanks

John
