Trunk leaks in the rain 140-160 1973

John,

My car was manufactured/assembled/designed for South Africa and my father bought it new in Cape Town in 1971. I'll ask him if he has ever modified the design, but I don't think so. I've downloaded (rather "ripped") the parts catalogue off www.gcp.se and from memory the rubbers in the catalogue are the same as what is on my car. Having rubber inside the channel on the body sounds like an attempt to stop the leak, perhaps the original configuration leaks by design? Over the weekend I've discovered that the leak on my car is not completely fixed, and the "new" leak is the lid rubber. But it only happens in hard rain while the car is parked. If driving the car in rain, the trunk stays dry. I'll be ordering my rubbers from www.scandcar.com, who is the best source for me in New Zealand. It's not cheap, just OEM and cheaper than virtually everyone else I can find.

Have fun...
