Hydraulic Engine Mounts 700 1987

I ordered hydraulic engine mounts for my 87, 740 GLE / B230F.
They came with a metal strap fitted from the top bolt down the side to the bottom.
Are these for shipping or do they stay on there. The Haynes shows only the early solid rubber mounts and they are different.
