Hi guys - bought the 1988 240 for my son recently with one previous owner and 78,000 miles. Really nice car and I've spent a few thousand on tires, wheels, brakes, miscellaneous maintenance stuff. Problem is that my son's not even nuts about the car (I am!) and now I realize that, by Volvo dealer estimates, the cost to fix the air conditioning is going to be over $1000 Canadian. According to the dealer, I need the conversion kit, a condenser, a dryer, and the line from the dryer to the condenser. I'm wrestling with myself over the cost, and am wondering if I should bite the bullet and get it done, or if there is a cheaper way. Are used parts any good, or is that a false economy? Is the air a finicky thing best left to the dealer? How well does it work when it is working? Thanks, Fred
