My 1990 240 Wagon is running rich, a situation that could be attributed to a failing ECT sensor. The OBD consistently gives codes 113, and a few other codes (usually alternately) indicating the fuel system is compensating for a lean or rich mixture. The OBD may have given the 123 code a few weeks ago (I have this code highlighted in the Haynes manual),,,,though I've been struggling with this for several weeks now and can't remember if I highlighted it because the code was actually displayed by the OBD or because it was one that could cause the rich mixture. Could it be displayed early in the failure of the ECT and then not appear after failure progresses beyond a certain point? I've got new injectors on the way...while I'm in there I may just pull the intake manifold, clean the gunk out of it (any home techniques?), replace the ECT. The person who replaced the ECT without taking out the manifold is a magician.
