Thanks for those replies. I figured any v engine would be a push it is quite a cramped engine bay especially with those top a-arms invading it.
I have an SR20 turbo motor and 5spd tranny that I bought for a conversion into a 142 but I may use it on the 122 instead. The volvo motors are great, don't get me wrong I have put several hundred thousand km's on these motors but as has become obvious from places like turbobricks it is hard to make lots of power from the B23/B230 turbo motors reliably without spending lots of $$$. The SR20 motor is, on the otherhand, capable of heaps of power without touching the engine's internals as has been proven by lots of people in 180/200sx's, nissan pulsar GTiR's and several other cars.
Thanks for the info re the motor swaps these other swaps have given me quite a bit of info to help with the SR20 if I deciede to go ahead on the 122 instead.
