trunk insulation 1800 1971

Has anyone tried sealing the trunk or hood with other than volvo
material.I heard of someone using Ford style trunk seals from the 70,s
on the volvo trunk and hood .The seal was longer on the hood than stock.
I find the short piece volvo uses on the hood not to be very appealing to
the eye.I would like to hide more of the channel
