The car is in the air??????

Put the car in "N" with the brakes off. Turn one back wheel by hand, back and forth and try to isolate the noise. Then go to the other wheel and do the same. You should be able to determine if it is a brake or the pinion. If no noise is found then look at the tranny mounts!
