Cool cool... 1800

It's perfectly normal for the gauge to go way hot after you shut down, because the water pump isn't moving coolant through the head, which is where the sensor for the temp gauge is. Nothing bad happens because of this.

Keeping the fan running after shutting down will have zero affect on it. I've got mine wired to the ignition circuit, so it's off when the motor's off.
