1973 145 140-160

The drain plug is at the bottom, I know it is not a M41.

A drain plug is on the bottom of *any* transmission - that's how the oil comes out! It's on the bottom, driver's side on an M46, and on the bottom, passenger side on an M41. If it's at the center of the bottom, I don't know WHAT you have!

The overdrive switch is located on top of the shift lever.

The '75 240 with M41 had the overdrive switch fitted to the shift knob.

The transmission shifts a lot better the any M40 or M41.

I've never driven an M45/46/47 car that felt as good to shift as an M40 or 41. That's pretty subjective, though.

The '73 145 was not factory available with M41, only the sedans and coupes.

It seems most likely that you have a '73 145 with a '75 M41.
