The rims are definitely 7 inches wide, I have two sets of them. They used the same size tires for some unkown reason. I think it is because wider tires will have a tendancy to track the road irregularities more. I believe these cars were limited in terms of their camber. I know the 7 and 9 series were. I'm not sure of any camber or caster changes when they did the rest of the suspesion. I know they changed the offset of the wheels and mounted the swaybars right to the struts (with a type of heim joint), and changed to the fibreglass rear spring.
