high mileage concerns S90-V90

Let me start with my usual caveat. The following is based on my experiences, and ONLY my experiences, with a '98 S90 I bought new in August of '97. By the time I lost all patience with the car and traded it away, it had gone through several A/C repairs, a front end bushing replacement, three repairs to the sunroof, puckered door panels, various electronic module failures and untold brake problems. That was just the major stuff. It was the worst car I ever had and, after many years of enjoying Volvos, it was a total disappointment. I don't think the S90s will ever be as reliable and all-around trouble-free as the red engine cars. My '79 went 375K and was still rolling along when I traded up to a 740. That car was absolutely no trouble either. I still have an 1800 and would like to find a clean 940 but no more of Volvo's later stuff for me. As I said, this is only my experience. I can't speak for anyone else but I do know that plenty of S/V90 owners are happy and have driven their cars lots of miles with relatively little trouble. Did I expect too much from a brand I've been driving for 33 years? I don't think so.
