Automatic transmission AW 71....shift problem? 700 1989

I have a 1989 740 gl wagon with the tow package.

When the car is cool the tranny shifts like normal.
As it warms up it will slip out of 4th into 3rd with a small amout of perssure on the pedel. This happens slowly untill you lose 4th gear.
The same happens with 3rd gear after more time.

Does this sound like anything youve heard, or possibly the same problem youve had?

The car is in great shape and low miles for its age. 122,000 miles.
Id hate to sell/junk it for just this problem.
