Engine running hot 200 1992

Thanks to everyone for the responses. I forgot to mention that a neighbor with an infrared temp guage showed the engine at around 210 degrees. Not sure if this is normal, but definitely seemed like the engine was running hot. I think the guage was working OK also. If I understand correctly, since the upper hose was hot, then the thermostat had opened. I'm wondering if it is indeed some kind of blockage. I'm going to look up references on the temp compensator also. Thanks again,

Jeff
