Draining differential on a 1987 740GLE

You mean nothing came out at all? Did your mechanic loosen and remove the fill plug also. Their is a slight chance of a vacuum effect but, even so if it's been running dry you likely have caused severe damage.

P.S always remove the fill plug first. Their is no point draining it if you can't fill it

Good luck
