Dead Battery. Could it be the alternator or regulator/brushes.

Something to consider:

- ensure battery has water (distilled is preferred) above plates
- alternator belt is tight
- when car's running, you should see a Voltage increase of ~2V.

BTW those brushes, although wearing, would still conduct and work properly at the stated 1/2 and 3/4" lengths.
