NJC thanks for helping me out.
This is a maintanance-free battery. No water to be added. It's a DieHard international from Sears.
The alternator belt is not screeching, which is normal from a loose belt. How else can I test for a loose belt. I did look at the thread of the belts and it's practically new. I think it only has 10,000 miles.
Where should I check for the voltage increase, at the battery or alternator? If at the alternator I'm a little confused at which point to check and how. This link is my alternator:

Which contact should I touch with the positive of my voltimeter? Should the negative of my voltimeter then just touch the chassis?
As for pics with a more exact measurement of by regulator brushes, I will do that tonight.
