rear diff leak 200 1989

I've done one before ... caveat though--it was on a Toyota.

You're right, same concept as the trans output.

Driveshaft needs to be disconnected at diff and then there's a large bolt holding the flange onto the end of the diff shaft.

There's a seal to replace but note that the surface of the flange (riding against seal) can wear and fluid will get by. So take a look at the surface for excessive wear.

You probably need to just change the seal though.
