Uncertain about my front end. 444-544 1958

The change-over between the two different steering linkage types occured when Volvo changed from the B16 to the B18 engine in 1962. Technically, the 445 model was the split windshield, 6 volt, B16 version, and after the engine / voltage / windshield change-over, the model was called the 210.

It is possible to adapt the later steering parts to the 445, but it is not a bolt-on proposition. The later steering box bolts to the frame using different holes than the early steering box, and the idler arm needs new holes in the frame on the passenger side. You are correct that the center tie-rod goes in the front set of holes on the steering and idler arms.
