Don't tell Mike I said so, but driving Fords of that era always give me the submerged-in-a-bathtub feeling, with their high sills and nebulous control feel. If your Oz Falcons are much like ours, it's a good job he doesn't have power assisted brakes. Ours were boosted enough to strain the seatbelts with a toetap.
The 4.1 6 cylinder must weigh in the neighborhood of 375 lbs. if a sturdy treelimb can't be found, perhaps you can do a swingset-type lashup from timbers and use a comealong(ratcheting winch) to lift the engine. Or a tow truck? Or slide it onto a low platform, thence onto a lower dolly for storage?
By lightly dragging the brakes on all-drum equipped cars while driving through puddles, the fade risk is minimized.
