There is no way the early later cams have 20 lb more torque at 2400 rpm. I drive a 94 960 wagon and my co worker drives an S90. We exchanged cars as well as raced the two head to head. There is absolutely no difference in acceleration below 3000 rpm. From there on to 6000 the 94 pulls away hands down. If the later cams have any torque advantage below 3000, its in the low single digits at best. The torque myth was started by volvo as a marketing ploy to offset the bad press of reducing the hp by 20. 960 switched from 200hp to 180 the same year it introced OBD2 and more stringent emissions. It was purely an easy way to pass tighter emissions without spending a lot of money. The torque advantage is a myth.
