Central Lock Problems 700 1987

Hi - I'm a new owner of an '87 740 GLE with 87K miles. Unfortunately, the power door locks are not operational. The key just opens and closes the driver's side door lock manually (no power to any doors). I've read some of the archives here and this problem seems to indicate either a bad switch on the driver's side door or the central lock relay. I removed the door panel, and when disconnecting and reconnecting the 3-wire connection to the switch I here the relay clicking so I know there's power at the door and at the relay. The lock switch is connected by one screw. I didn't take it out because although I'm pretty good with electronics I wasn't sure how involved it would be to disconnect it from the linkage, etc. I recently called a Volvo dealer to see if they carried the switch. Their head "old car" mechanic said it was not the switch, but the door actuator. Maybe...but does anyone out there have suggestions regarding what would be the most likely cause for the power locks not to operate given the fact that I'm pretty sure there's power at the door and the relay. And by the way, the actuator at the dealer would be about $200.00 (ouch!). Seems the switch is a hard part to find also. I sent emails to various salvage places and am waiting to here. Any comments, suggestions on removing switch, replacing actuator, parts, etc. appreciated - thanks.
