Hi all,
I was looking at the Research section on cars.com and the JD Power's mid-term Mechanical Rliability rating for the 1995 940s was 2 out of 5, and no long-term rating. The 1994 940 did significantly better with a long-term rating of 4 out of 5.
Is there any validity to that, in your experience? Also, is there any way to access more detailed information, regarding model-specific information about why the cars got the ratings that they do? Perhaps a trip to the library to look at old issues of car magazines is in order? Also, I am really interested in a Turbo, but they did not have specific ratings for the turbo models.
This is there description of thier criteria, but no indication of sample size, etc.: Mechanical Reliability: Taken from the Customer Service Study (CSI), which looks at customer satisfaction with dealer maintenance and repair services, this score is based on problems reported with the engine, transmission, steering, suspension, and braking systems after one to three years of ownership.
Thanks!
