B20 pistons 1800

The pistons sound like they are either Hepolite or Repco. Both are substandard compared to the Kolbenschmidt or Mahle pistons the factory used.
Broken rings means the upper ring groove is damaged. Re-grooving with spacers is not advised, and knurling is old school and to be avoided. You will need the next overbore size, and find a machine shop to bore and hone to fit. Also check the small end bushings in the rods.
