Man, I would keep looking for another glass shop. I work in the autobody industry, and I can't tell you how many flakey glass installers that I have come across. It seems as though they so used to making the easy money on the glue in modern windshields that they don't don't want to touch older stuff. That combined with the fact that many of them have never touched anything but a glue in windshield can make it tough to find a good installer. Call a local hot rod shop to see who they recommend in your area. The person that they deal with will be well versed in older cars.

If you decide to remove the glass yourself, just cut away the old rubber with a razor blade or utility knife. Cutting away the rubber between the glass and the trim wi relieve most of the pressure on the trim and it will be much easier to remove. after the trim is out, keep trimming (if you have to) until the glass just lifts out. It's really a very simple operation.

You CAN do your own installation, but if your not confident, give the hot rod guys a call.
