How do you keep the dash from cracking? 200 1993

I just put an uncracked, used 89 dash in our 83 245 V8. Used dash was from MN or WI (bought at Strandbergs [Centuria WI] last summer during my annual pilgrimage). We try to keep the car in the garage, use a windshield screen when it's out. The dash before that was also from Strandbergs, lasted 10 or 11 years before it cracked. Original dash only lasted 8 years . . . .

Maybe the secret is to get them from up north?
