Adopted a 164 140-160 1974

Hmm, I thought the 164's came with standard A/C. Guess its different for different markets. Since the gas cap is in the same location as your 144, I guess it is a 73 model, but could be sold in 74 as a left over or something like that. My 74 144 (should be the same for 164) has the larger bumpers, no front vent windows, and the gas cap is behind a door flap like a 244. This was because the gas tank was repositioned closer to the axle for extra safety in the even of a rear end collision. Interior between 73-74 164 and 144 are the same. Gotta love those big round air-vents and that clock, although mine is correct twice a day. (broken!)
