There are almost as many differing opinions on brake components as there are on motor oil and tires. Are you changing rotors? If so, I'd recommend some good after-market performance rotors since the factory parts warp pretty easily, my experience anyway. I have always used PBR pads on all eleven Volvos I have owned. I got good pad life, not a heck of alot of noise but maybe more brake dust on the wheels than you might care for.
