Problem with locks freezing 900

Is WD-40 a synthetic based lubricant?

Steve, why do you recommend against WD-40? Note that "WD" stands for "water displacement" (and, per folklore, the 40 is from that the compound was the inventor's 40th attempt).

What I'm thinking about doing is squirting a little bit (very quick spray) of WD-40 in one of the locks, probably the passenger lock, and then park in the freezing weather again (the Volvo is still in the garage), see if that works.
