If I remember correctly there was some talk on the board about leaving that disconnect. The reason behind this (from some) is it may cause cracks at the Y. Do a search.

I replaced mine about 2 months ago. It had the threaded hole already in it. If you want to connect it then you will need to drill a hole and put a nut on the back side.

Where did you get the header pipe? I got mine from FCP, and the first one didn't match up right and sent it back. The 2nd one worked with some modification.
