high rev when accelerating 700 1989

Sounds like a slipping clutch. It starts in higher gears, and after a while it will happen in 3rd & 2nd if it gets really bad. While driving on the highway in 5th, if you push the gas down quickly and the engine revs, but the car doesn't accelerate, the clutch is slipping.

Plan to have the flywheel resurfaced when the clutch kit goes in.
