A fellow here in Bartlesville had a shop with at least one halogen
light like you describe. He was working on a fuel injection system
in his garage. A hose broke and shot gasoline at high pressure into the
air. It hit the light, which blew up, starting quite a fire. He got it
out but suffered second and third degree burns over all his hands and
other parts of his body and was off work for more than a year. A Christian,
he accepted this and help from his church and displayed a tremendous attitude
in the face of extreme, long-term suffering. His hands were extremely tender
for a long time but he eventually got well enough that he could ride a
motorcycle. He went out for a ride one day on it and was killed.
His wife is coping but it hasn't been easy for her.
No halogen lights for me (maybe headlight sealed beams......).
