Rear tailight replacement problem 200 1989

Make sure you've got the right socket on the right side. You'll have a black socket on your original lights for the left brake light, and a white socket on the right.
Use those correct sockets, and the correct 1157 dual-filament bulbs. The outer bottom position on the 82 taillight won't be a combination park/brake light; it's just a parking light. That's the only dual bulb in the housing.

Also, clean up the socket fingers with a fine file or sandpaper. I find that a lot of brake lights on these cars won't work right unless the socket is installed, then turned back a tiny bit (counter-clockwise).
Fiddle with it some more!
