Presuming the moisture is excluded and the surface is PERFECTLY sealed, that might be a good idea (like at the factory when you've just coated and sealed the surface)...but NOOO WAAYYY after this much time, when moisture has undoubtably already gotten to the surface and started the rusting process...sealing it now would be veeerrry baaad, as it would seal the moisture in, and would accelerate any rusting in there...don't do it!

Two words: Stainless Steel!
