To put it mildly, 70 is slow for her. Knock on wood she has never been targeted by the State Police (or local for that matter). She's just keeping up with traffic on I-95S from central RI to southern CT!

I found the problem easily when I opened the hood. The long alternator tensioner bolt more or less shattered and was missing. It must have been carrying the weight of the alternator since the locking nut was loose enough to allow the alt. to drop. The belt was still on but very loose.

Thankfully she had enough juice in the battery (must have been charging over 70mph which is ~80% of the trip) to start the car and get it going. She had to come rescue my arse with a broken radiator (765T, no overheat!) while en route to pick her up to continue on to Hartford for dinner. Thankfully I had her new battery in my car along with my multimeter and tools!!! I diagnosed, repaired the alt, and replaced the battery while waiting for AAA. :) The old battery in her car didn't have enough to juice to start it again. Yes, I was a Boy Scout.

Made the hour trip to Hartford and back home (2.5 hours total) with no problems. Car was towed to a friend's house that was within the 3 mile free towing radius and I've sourced a good used radiator from a Brickboard friend.
