Intermittent No Start - Suspect Starter 700 1989

Greetings,

I've had this hot start / no start issue for awhile and may hopefully have a solution. New battery / cables, distributor new less than 2,000 miles ago, new plugs & wires, new coil less than 5,000 miles ago and still the same.

This evening, I was able to start the car. I let it idle for about 3 minutes and shut it off in order to recreate the no start condition. I was able to recreate the no start, than I tapped on the starter with a large wrench and it started right away. I was able to restart the car 10 times in a row with no problem.

This is not a very "scientific" method of testing the starter, but it seemed to identify the starter as my problem. Can anyone point me in the right direction here? Maybe a more definitive test procedure?

Thanks for any assistance.....
