engine in the 960 900

The B6304 I-6 was used in all US spec. 960/90 series from 1992-1998. (The name changed with the 1997.5 model year). Yes, 1997.5

In 1995, the cams were changed to produce a differnt torque curve that also produced less high end horsepower. 204HP vs 181HP. Torque numbers were almost the same at 197 vs. 199 (respectively) but the curve was flatter and came in stronger at a lower rpm. More useful for us slower driving US folk. Same 10.7:1 compression ratio, same 24 valves.

So, there was one version of the engine from 1992-94, and another version from 95-98. During that time period the engines went from Motronic 1.8 to Motronic 4.4 engine management systems, OBDI-OBDII, as well as different timing belt drive systems to increase TB change intervals from 20K to 70K.

I hope this answers your question.
