Look at the head at the edge over the manifolds near the center headbolt.
As best I recall, if there is a curved surface (the square edge of the head
is not continuous) on BOTH sides of the center headbolt, but it has FI ports,
it is probably an E head. If it has a curved surface on one side of the
headbolt it is an early F head. If it has a square edge all the way along,
it is a late (K-jet) F head. (Won't have a hole for the water-heated auxiliary
air valve either.) The K-jet heads have the best ports.
Head thickness is also a factor - E heads are less than 3 7/16" thick,
while F heads are MORE than 3 7/16".
