AHHHH! 140-160

Waitaminute! =D So what's the metering nipple do? Cause I think my car has one of those in there. Or something. Does that mean that it's ok how everything is setup right now? Or should I switch the two hoses(put the oil cap one to the airbox, and the breather one to the intake manifold), or is it fine how it is or what.... =D Cause yeah, right now, as pictured, there is no flame arrestor in the breather box, which is directly hooked up to the airbox.

I JUST WENT OUTSIDE AND played with the hoses, looked at the intake manifold's nipple whatever that the oil filler cap is currently attached to, and... There's nothing in there! I started the car, I took off the hose to the intake manifold, and there was no change in idle speed or quality. I think Phil hit the head on the nail with my vacuum leak. WOW! I have a HUGE VACUUM LEAK AND NEVER KNEW IT! I mean, the car has had lots of vacuum leak like symptoms before, but it's never really caused any problems. The car runs great right now except for a random rough idle, and a random popping upon deceleration. The car has never run better, but now it does this rough idle thing sometimes, and the popping. This never happened before though, and has only been happening since I did the water torture followed by the Seafoam. (after that treatment my car doesn't ping anymore and I can run all kinds of advance without problems...)

So yeah, did that, and did this: took the hose off of the oil cap, and what do I feel?! LOTS of fumage being pumped out of the oil cap, AT IDLE! That shouldn't be happening... Right?!?! This car has worn valve guide seals or whatever(smokes when decelerating in gear above 4krpm), I don't know if that has anything to do with it, or if that's just pressure from blowby or whatever. So yeah, I took off the hose that goes to the breather box, which I can see blowing out fumage when I rev it up a bit, and felt what it was doing while at idle. It feels like the breather box is sucking and then blowing quite fast. So alternating between an intake and an exhaust.

Wow I'm confused. This doesn't seem too good... Maybe this car will be coming off the road sooner rather than later. I don't think the 145 that I'm working on getting has these problems, the engine seems to be in good shape in that, but then again I haven't really driven it yet or revved it up high either. Argh, we shall see. In the meantime, WHAT IS GOING ON with my 142's motor!? Oye. =D

I'm going to go outside right now and find out what happens to the flow of air through the breather and the oil cap when I rev it up some. I'll edit it into here in a couple of minutes.

EDIT: Went outside, and played with it a bit. The blowby didn't change much, I'm still quite suprised by the amount coming out of the oil cap though... And I took off the hose from the oil cap and stuck my finger over the nipple to block off my vacuum leak. The engine dropped in rpms a bit so yeah, I guess it's tuned a little bit rich. And whatever. Who knows.
