The restirctor is in the fitting on the intake manifold, the fitting just has a very small hole in it. You shouldn't notice any difference pulling the hose off. If you put your finger over the fitting, you should feel a slight vacuum. Those systems do run in both directions as I explained in that previous post below. A slight flow into the intake at idle, and a large flow into the air cleaner at higher throttle.
