My '84 242 is having some shifting problems from 3rd to 4th. All other gears seem fine. There is a slightly hard shift from 1st to 2nd (at ~2500 rpm), but 2nd to 3rd is very smooth (at ~2500 rpm). Once in 3rd it dosen't shift to 4th until about ~3600 rpm. Strangely, once it makes the 3rd to 4th shift the first time, it seems to do it easier (at ~3200 rpm)on the following attempts. I recently had the whole system flushed (torque converter included) thinking this would solve my problems; apparently not. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Can I make some simple adjustments or am I in for some major repair? Thanks a lot...
