If you unhook the wire do you get a resistance reading at the sender?
If not, maybe it has a broken wire. If zero maybe the insulating washer
isn't doing its job or there's a short somewhere else.
I have also found that on at least one of my cars, a separate ground wire
is necessary to get it to work. Maybe the tank is too well caulked around
the edges or something....
